Finding your submitted tax return in your HMRC personal tax account - and knowing what to pay

After you submit your tax return, HMRC will record your data in your personal tax account. You'll need to have an HMRC login to access this.

Here's what you need to navigate.

OCCASIONALLY HMRC WILL NOT SHOW THAT YOUR TAX RETURN HAS BEEN SUBMITTED - CONTACT US IF THIS IS WHAT YOU ARE EXPERIENCING AND WE WILL WORK WITH YOU TO FIX IT.

1. Log in to your HMRC personal tax account

2. You will see a box marked Self Assessment. Even if you have already filed a tax return it will still say "Complete your tax return". We know this confuses many people.

2. Click on Complete your tax return - this will then show that the return has been submitted. If you want to amend a return, you can do this via untied.

4. If you click on "Self Assessment" on the main menu, you can also access details about your return including what you need to pay
