What information does untied need to sign me up for MTD?
General
In general you will need to have your profile in untied completed first.
We will then discuss the process to get you signed up to MTD - if you haven't had a call, you can book one here.
As a sole trader
The following information is required if you are a sole trader:
- A couple of words describing what you do (for example plumbing, electrical work or hairdressing)
- The name of your business (it could just be your name)
- Did the business start before 6 April 2023? If it started later, tell us the start date
- Your address (which should match the one in untied)
- Note that HMRC ask about accounting method too - untied just supports the cash basis where the tax treatment "follows the money"
For UK property
The following information is required if you have UK property income:
- Did the income start before 6 April 2023? If it started later, tell us the start date
- Note that HMRC ask about accounting method too - untied just supports the cash basis where the tax treatment "follows the money"
For foreign property
The following information is required if you have foreign property income:
- Did the income start before 6 April 2023? If it started later, tell us the start date
- Note that HMRC ask about accounting method too - untied just supports the cash basis where the tax treatment "follows the money"
- When you are set up in untied, income from each country needs to be reported separately. We will help set up the tagging you need - this requires us to do some configuration that does not appear in the user screens so make sure you ask us!
