Computer says no - why can't I sign up to MTD?

You may be getting messages from HMRC saying to sign up to Making Tax Digital, but then find that you can't do so.

There are a number of reasons for this - and they are likely to relate to data points in HMRC's records for you that aren't yet supported in Making Tax Digital, or that you are deferred or exempt from MTD.
