Co-operative Bank feeds in untied
This article explains how bank feeds usually work in untied, why the Co‑operative Bank is an exception, and what you can do in the meantime.
Our current support for the Co‑operative Bank
We have invested in building a direct connection to the Co‑operative Bank.
However, the data users get is anecdotally not as good as from other sources. So we label it as beta.
We are hopeful that changes following the Co‑operative Bank’s acquisition by Coventry Building Society may create opportunities for improvement in the future.
Background
How untied connects to most banks
Most banks connect to untied using open banking, a UK standard that allows users to securely share transaction data with authorised apps like untied.
We usually manage these connections through a best in class aggregator of bank connections called TrueLayer. This allows us to securely support many banks through a single, reliable integration.
This is a standard approach - most other accounting software products also use aggregators.
Why the Co‑operative Bank is different
The Co‑operative Bank does not currently support connections via TrueLayer.
When a bank isn’t available through our usual integration, we sometimes build a direct connection instead. This involves working directly with the bank’s own open banking interface and requires ongoing development and maintenance.
Help us make this better
We want Co‑operative Bank users to have the same experience as users of other banks.
If you work for the Co‑operative Bank or Coventry Building Society and would like to discuss bank feed integrations, we’d be very happy to talk. Users who would like to see improved support can also encourage your bank to get in touch with us.
What you can do in the meantime
If you bank with the Co‑operative Bank, please do try to link the account - as it does work for some people.
But if it doesn't work, the best option for now is to upload transactions manually. This allows you to keep your records up to date while we continue to monitor options for improved connectivity.
