Can I register for MTD if I'm newly self-employed

If you've never filed self assessment before, then you can't sign up to MTD straightaway.

HMRC need you to have submitted a recent tax return under self assessment in order to migrate you to the new systems. This is part of their process to check that they can support what you need.
