Submitting your tax return - using your HMRC online account or untied express submit

It will not be possible to submit a tax return unless you have a Unique Taxpayer Reference number (UTR) from HMRC - they use this to identify you.

There are two ways to submit a return using untied.

  • One option is to use your HMRC online account details. This is also known as a Government Gateway login.
  • The other way is called untied express submit. untied express submit enables you to file without needing your own HMRC login. You will need to send us two forms of ID – one with a photo and a different one with your address to aml@untied.io. This can take us 24 hours to process, but we aim to reply faster. We will then enable this on your account. Please note that you will need a paid-up untied subscription in order to use untied express submit, and to submit your tax return to HMRC.

You will then need to select the right option from the drop-down on the "Tax Filing" page:

In the untied Pro mobile App:

Click on the button and select the option to either "File with HMRC account" or "File with Express Submit"

In untied Pro in the browser:

Click on the button and select the option to either "File with HMRC account" or "File with Express Submit"

In untied lite:

Click Tax Filing in the menu.

Select either "Your HMRC online account" or "untied express submit" from the "Submit using:" field,

If you have problems submitting, let us know.
