Jobseekers' Allowance and Employment and Support Allowance in untied
Income-based (means-tested) Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) is not taxable and does not need to go on your tax return. In untied you can leave it untagged, or tag it as personal.
Contributions-based ESA and new style Jobseekers' Allowance (JSA) are taxable.
They are treated as employment and should be entered in the employment section of untied. See the linked article below.
You can use the details based on the form that DWP will send you - if you stopped claiming, you'll have a P45 (possibly labelled as P45 (ESA) or P45 (U)), or if you were still claiming at the end of the tax year, you'll get a P60 (again this may be labelled P60 (ESA) or P60 (U)).
